I have a problem with the performance analyzer because the profiling takes forever to process and does not produce a report.

What kind of application are you profiling? If it's web app like launch it with browser IE or Edge, I experienced once with Chrome which made it slow.

Another suggestion is uncheck "Enable JavaScript debugging for ASP.NET"
