Folks,

I am looking for some assistance in moving databases from one SQL server to another for our SharePoint 2013 "Access 2013 Services" databases.

We installed the "Access Services 2013" service application into our test SharePoint farm and everything is working as expected, however we want to move these databases from our regular SharePoint farm SQL server to a new SQL server (instance). We're not too thrilled about the fact that everytime someone creates a new Access App that a new randomly (GUID) named database is created in the SQL server and we would like to move these all into their own SQL server to keep our farm SQL database sever clean. I know that we can specify a database server to use, through the management functions of this service application, but I was told this does not move the databases from the current to new database I specify.

In looking at these databases, and the associated login accounts that get created for them, is there some easy way to accomplish this? I don't want to move the databases over and then break the apps, preventing users from getting into them.

We haven't yet deployed this service into Production and we wanted to see how this worked out, using our Test environment, before we did so and the database clutter is one item we do not want happening in production.

To move databases of "Access services 2013" from one server to another server, you should take a backup of the databases and restore the databases in another server.

Then you could delete the old "Access Services 2013" service application with the associated data, create a new "Access service 2013" service application and specify "Application Database Server", it will create databases for "Access services 2013" in the new server.
