I am trying to get started with Message Analyzer, and I'm getting the message:

Provider Microsoft-PEF-NDIS-PacketCapture does not work remotely. Please create a new session without it.

I'm not sure what that means by working remotely. I don't see anything anywhere about anything being remote. The only thing remote is me RDPing into the server, but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

This is Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard running on VMWare.

I could appreciate some direction on this. I just want to capture packets between this machine and an SMTP host so I can see where things are going wrong.

You can resolve this if you edit the Target computer in the Session details and change it to the server hostname rather than Localhost.
