  When we are searching using REST API in SharePoint 2013, the API is searching in entire SharePoint farm, but not restricted to a particular site to which are requesting with in the requesting URL.

I'd say that this is by design. If you wish to search within the particular website only you can either use a specific result source, narrowed to that particular site, or add SPSiteUrl:siteurl to the wuery text.
