I use microsoft word daily for work but lately its been messing up and share point has been interfering. I have never, to my knowledge, signed up for sharepoint but it seems like theres no way to avoid it on microsoft word now. Anytime i save a document it brings up an error message saying it wasnt uploaded because a specific path wasnt found on the server. It also keeps asking me to make copies of my work, telling me im exceeding storage space when i can see theres more available and has recently not been letting me save documents. It's getting really bothersome when all i want is to save something to my laptop rather than the whole one drive, is it easier to just save it to the one drive to stop the constant error messages and if so how?

Are you sure its a SharePoint and not OneDrive that is throwing the error.  If you are using OneDrive sync this is exactly the kind of error you will get and since OneDrive for Business is built on top of SharePoint it can look like the error is coming from SharePoint.  The point is that you will sometimes get the error with OneDrive sync even when you save to the sync location on your laptop because it will automatically try to upload it to OneDrive from there.

When I was having this error I had to clear the cache on the office Upload control and turn it off in OneDrive settings.  Take a look at the following article.
