I have a project on WPF where my customer would like to be able to select a picture from a library and send it directly to MS live  through the WPF interface.

You'll need the windows live messemger sdk, i'm not sure hoy could you modify the appareance of the controls bou i think that you can share files with your cinversation, http://dev.wlmessenger.net/ in the share section.

Also you can download some examples from here http://messenger.mslivelabs.com/samples.zip.
