I have VS 2017 (Community edition) installed (as well as 2012 Community and 2008 Professional) and all are fine - but now, for reasons too daft to go into - would like to install 2015 (Community,, again). The main program appears to have installed OK, but the bundled updates (the installer was en_visual_studio_community_2015_with_update_3_x86_x64_web_installer_8922963.exe) appear to have failed with error code 0x80070666 and messages that I already have a later version of the C++ Redistributable installed. I had to jump through all kinds of hoops when installing 2017 due to a similar error re the C++ Redist. file..... and have also with other programs. It seems to cause all sorts of problems, often - come on Microsoft, surely this isn't necessary?
Anyway... meanwhile.... is there anything I can do about this without breaking other current installations?

Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
I think you have already know the 0x80070666 means, to prevent this, you can go to Control Panel-Programs and features to uninstall the newer version of Visual C++ Redistributables. Then start the VS 2015 installation.
After the VS 2015 is complete, please go to The latest supported Visual C++ downloads to install the necessary Visual C++ items. It won't affect the other VS version use.
