All of a sudden, my gmail imap server is not allowing access.  Each time I check the properties for the account in Windows Live Mail, the password section is blank.  I put the password in, check the 'remember password' box, click apply and close the properties.  I check the mail and get the imap error again.  Password is blank again.

I am not  a computer expert - but I had the same problem.  This is what I did to correct the problem: I closed Windows Live Mail;  went to the Windows Live Mail shortcut within the Windows Live shortcut in 'All Programs'; right clicked on the shortcut to go to the properties; selected the 'shortcut' tab and checked the box where it says Run as administrator.  Then I selected the compatibility tab and shose to run the program as compatible to Windows XP service pack 2. Closed the properties window and restarted Live mail - it started to work beautifully - I hope it works for you too.
