Since DirectX/Direct3D are deprecated and replaced with Windows8 SDK I'm looking for how to combine WPF and the new Windows8 SDK.

In 2012 The Microsoft Developer Bog had a description of some interesting work . . .

But how do I get this?   What version of WPF and the .Net Framework do I need?  Which version of the Windows 8 SDK is required?  Where can I see some working, buildable sample projects that do some of these things?   Was this blog entry just a teaser or is this something we can do now?
