Is it possible to keep the language selected once set?  When moving from page to page the user has to re-select the translate button each time.  In fact if they post some data and I send back an error message in a server side validation script then it also loses the selected language.

Are you trying to use a cookie and that is not working in my environment or do you just not save the selected language?

The language selection should presist - but it is different from auto translating the subsequent pages. This is the "auto" feature we have discussed on other threads and is also part of the upcoming set of features.

Just to understand this scenario - you would like to provide an experience where if someone comes to a page that has the widget installed and "turns on" the translation, it should stay turned on even if they go to a different page (basically means every click through to a new page should automatically trigger a translation). Is this correct?

We intend to offer this as an option, where you can also set that the translation should occur automatically if we detect that the user's browser language is set to something other than your site language.
