Is there a way to implement zoom on AudioVideoCaptureDevice while using hardware encoding? Maybe by setting (cropping) a capture region? Could anybody tell how zoom implemented in wp8 stock camera app?

Hi,

I am aware of no APIs specifically for zooming.  Since there is no optical zooming (at least in the phone devices I am aware of), you will likely need to implement image cropping as you suggested.
