Hello,

I have a student data as shown in the 'Picture 1' below.

This student data table shows student's name, and Courses (Subject) undertaken by the student in a private coaching institution.

The value of 'E' under the English column means student is taking English course and
the value of 'M' under the Mathematics column means student is taking Math course.

I am trying to use Excel 2007 Pivot table to find out how many students are taking English and Math courses.

I have created a pivot table with Row/Column settings as shown in the picture 'Picture 2' and I could get a pivot table showing how many students are taking the English course, sorted by grade as shown in 'Picture 3'.

Then I have modified the pivot table Row/Column settings as shown in the picture 'Picture 4' in order to get a pivot table showing how many students are taking the English course and also showing how many students are taking the Mathematics course.

However the pivot table did not show the column Mathematics on the same level as the English column but put the Mathematics column as the child column of the English column and I got a confusing pivot table data as shown in the picture 'Picture 5'. It looks like the pivot table is showing the number of Mathematics course students who are ALSO doing English course.

So my question is, how can I have both English and Maths columns on the same level of my pivot table? I want to create a pivot table showing two separate data - the number of English course students and the number of Mathematics course students in the same Grade/row.
