I have created the add-in project, and add the ribbon, but when i run the probject, I don't see the custom group in the message tab.

Hi stmart,

First, based on that blog, he doesn’t add other controls to group, so the group will be small, you may don’t find it. So, please add some controls (e.g. button)

Secondly, for Outlook 2013, by default, it will add a new group (Id is Group1) after add a new Ribbon (Visual Designer), so for those Ribbons, both of them has the group with same ID, which are conflict and it may lead the custom group won’t show. So, please use the different ID.

Thirdly, please check whether that add-in is loaded correctly.

1. File=>Options
2. Select Add-ins
3. Select COM Add-ins and click Go…
4. Check your add-in is checked.

On the other hand, please make sure RibbonType of these Ribbons are correctly.
