Hi,

I have excel 2007 and 2013 is installed on the same machine. list view control on the excel 2007 is working fine. but in excel 2013 is not working. i can able to place the control from the developer tab but when i try to insert a new column it's throwing a "invalid property value" error. i understand that 64 bit version office will not support MSCOMCTL.ocx but our office installation is 32 bit only on a windows 7 64 bit machine. Kindly reply....

Hello Ethi123,

I had so many problems using controls from MSCOMCTL.ocx that I strongly recommend not to use them. The problem is that frequently and unexpectedly the MSCOMCTL.ocx is unregistered. This may occur due to a Microsoft update, different Office version instalation and so on.

Probably that is what happened and the solution is to reregister the MSCOMCTL.ocx.

In order to do so, please follow the steps in the link: Register MSCOMCT.ocx

Please note 2 things:

• The article is regarding MSCOMCT2.ocx but the process is the same. Just change the name of the file.
• The article does not mention that CMD (command prompt) must be open with administrative rights. To do so, do as follows: (1) Open Start menu and select "Run" (2) Type CMD (3) right click on CMD and choose "Run as Administrator"
