Hello all, 

In my organization, we are using Sharepoint online for many purposes. Since the introduction of the new-layout a while ago, browsing trough folders and files in browsers, leads consistently to 404 errors. The solution is easy, when we click on "return to classic mode" and the problem is solved. 

We expected it to be some kind of bug, but it is still not solved after approximately a year and the classic mode will probably be deprecated soon. 

We expect that we are not the only one with this problem, so maybe there is a fix available?

The "classic" experience will not be deprecated; both "classic" and "modern" will coexist. Refer to this article.

Does this issue happen on all sites?

For the 404 Not Found issue, please check whether the folder name, file name contains any special characters, like: ‘#’, if so, get rid of it, and check the result. Create a new folder and a new file, compare the results.
