Guys, i had the same problem,

go to start, right click my computer, click manage, click device manager in left plane, click properties, driver tab, click update driver, do not click the floppy disc section, then click browse, choose my computer, click ok then click drop bar and select the option with sound this will automatically reinstall your mixer and entire sound device.

i then opened my media player to check, it was working perfectly.

Just for future reference the reason for this happening to your computer is that you plugged a device into your  computer via usb after your computer had gone into hibernation, hope this helps because i know how frustrating this problem is xx

You lost me after I click manage. I did not see properties anywhere. Am I missing something here? I hope you can help. I see a huge list, but the list did not show properties.
