Hi,

I am developing an Excel file which has document properties defined to link on SharePoint. the template was working fine for last 2 quarters. it has in all 90 defined properties with numeric fields/date fields/text fields and 1 Multiple Lines of text fields

Now I have added another 28 Multiple lines of text fields, which are not taking values for more than 255 characters. Whenever the text values is of lesser length, the value updates on SharePoint just fine.

I have already defined the fields with 'Allow unlimited length' property ticked to allow bigger text in it. but it's not working :(

I now have a query that if there is a limit on defining the number of Multiple Lines of text fields with unlimited length.

Hi,

Document libraries and lists have different options available to the multiple lines of text column type. In document libraries, when you create a new column of type Multiple Lines of Text, you get the option to select the 'Allow unlimited length in document libraries' checkbox. 

But, In lists, this option does not exist. 

A multi line text field is defined in sharepoint as a 'Note' type, this is stored in the the DB as a ntext sql type.In the SQL type can store 2gb of char data, that's 1,073,741,823 characters.

Also, it is not advisable to store huge data in SharePoint column as it may hamper performance.
