We have developed a COM addin which works for both 32 and 64 bit versions of excel. We use AdvancedInstaller to install the addin. We have a system with a chinese locale where the addin has installed successfully but does not show up in the excel. He is using Windows XP 32 bit and Excel 2007. I tried reproducing the issue with the exact system requirements (except for user locale being English). We could see the addin installed and shown in excel as well.

We actually confirmed the successful installation of the addin in the chinese locale system by checking in the control panel; all the dlls of the addin are seen in the local drive as well. We checked in the path Excel Options->AddIns->Manage->COM Addins and our addin was seen with the check box checked; We also checked and confirmed that the addin is not present in Disabled Items section; A similar user with the exact system configuration(locale is chinese as well) can see the addin in excel 2007.

I also checked in the registry of the problematic system for the appropriate entries and everything is fine there as well.

Lastly, i tried reinstalling the addin and also restarted the system but my efforts were in vain.

Anybody has come across such a issue before? Thanks for your help.If you require additional info. let me know.

It's a weird issue. Are there any other add-ins that might interfere this add-in? Have you tried to install the add-in with no any other add-ins installed?
