Any ideas how I can stop OLE calling the OpenDocumentFile function when I paste one of my doc types into, say, Wordpad.

I know what I'm doing may sound a bit wierd but if anyone can shed some light in this area, that's be great.

If you support OLE in your document then when you drop it into worpad wordpad does not really edit it. It uses your application to edit it "in-place" within the ole view. If you are trying to prevent this then do not support OLE.
