Recently when attempting to create a web application and later extend it through Central Administration, the web application creation completes and shows the web application in Central Administration, however it isn't accessible and when looking further, the structure wasn't created within the wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories location. Removing the web applications and creating them through PowerShell properly created the structure. Has anyone seen this before and is there any way to resolve this?
