最近我们在编辑不同文档库的属性时进行了性能测试。场景是在库上编辑50个文档标题属性。一个是包含20,000个文档和一些自定义列的自定义库，而另一个是包含100个文档的OOTB库
。 

Recently we were doing performance testing on editing properties on different document libraries. Scenario was editing 50 documents Title property on library. One was custom library with 20,000 documents and some custom columns while other was OOTB library with 100 documents.

We found that custom library was taking longer than OOTB library. My question is which all factors plays a role while updating properties in a library. Does number of documents in library, number of custom columns also play part or it is something else?

Please note this is SP 2013 environment and in both libraries 50 documents were updated in single batch.

amount of custom columns affect performance. Also type of columns matter: lookup and managed metadata columns take more resources than regular text/number columns.
