I have a file that I have developed from scratch for a customer. It takes a reasonable sized input file in either csv or excel (xls or xlsx) format. The data is read from the input source and manipulated into a report to be output.

The manipulation and reporting are fine, but every time the file tries to save after the input has been opened Excel will crash. I can save the file before I open the input file without any problem. I have tried creating a different source file from scratch but get the same problem. I've also tried recreating the report code from scratch. Each time I get the same problem.
