I'm running into trouble with a form. Everything was working fine till I decided to add 2 columns for LastUpdate and LastUserID. I didn't want to make them hidden and bound on the form.

Before I do the acSaveRecord or recordsetclone update, I trace the values and they look good. After the update, I check the table and no values appear. From the appearance, it as though the recordsetclone is not "syncing" with the underlying table. Am I missing something here ?
I have a funny feeling that if I use invisible form fields, it will work.

Your funny feeling is correct, and it is the Highly Preferred means of date-stamping record updates in bound forms. I would strongly urge you to reconsider using hidden bound textboxes and letting the bound form mechanics handle these updated for you. You will tear much less of your hair out that way than attempting to do any other method (and yes, this IS the voice of direct experience).

You actually risk record locking and other update issues by attempting to use a recordsetclone to update the record actively being updated by the form itself.
