I have recently updated to VS 2015 Update 3. I am running a specific project type that needs typescript 2.1+. When I go into my tools > Extensions and updates ... it shows my typescript as 1.8.3 with the options to upgrade and uninstall both greyed out.

If try to download a newer version of typescript , say 2.2.x, the EXE runs successfully and installs into my microsoft SDK folder, but there is no sign of the updated typescript in my Visual Studio.

Does anyone know how I can shake 1.8.3 and get a newer version of typescript in the IDE?
