My game app will require a [local] database, to pull (and store game decisions and progress) data from/to roughly 20 small to medium sized tables to drive the program and game logic. The database size should not end up being too large, however I prefer not to deal with XML databases. In short, the game will operate logically much like a simplified version of The Sims by EA, but without all of the graphics, and will continually present questions to generate game responses (Back and forth), to drive the game. (game selects random, player selects chosen, but both with a certain amount of logic applied depending on prior Q & A and player profile) ... kind of like a "20 Questions" but answer choices will vary from 2 to 4, not yes/no

I have noticed that I have the ability to add an SQL database when building an app in Visual C# Express, but not in Express for Windows Phone. So, I'm having to self-educate myself in the new C# language, having to decide between possibly Silverlight vs XNA, and which development app to begin work in. Bottom line is I am looking for the easiest path to begin development where I can end with an app that will run on Windows Mobile and will utilize a local database (SQL) server of some sort.

I'm not against buying a full version of Visual Studio if I thought this would provide more database tools while also allowing me to desgn with Windows Mobile in mind. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks
