I can't burn files to a DVD. Here's the scoop:

I'm fine burning CDs, reading CDs, reading/viewing DVDs. When I try to write to DVD (zipped folders that include a mix of image and video files), I'm prompted to format the blank disk. If I choose Live System File (default), formatting seems to start but shows no progress and won't complete the action. The formatting window would display forever if I let it. To stop/close it, I tried Task Manager > end but that causes explorer to close and not restart. I have to manually turn off my laptop and restart to get back up.

If I choose the Mastered format, I get further along in the burn process but still can't complete it. In this case, I get to the Burn to Disk screen where I can see progress. The process almost finishes - progress bar shows complete, window says "finished" and "please wait" - but then it freezes and stops responding so that I can't click the "Next" button to finish up.

Its not your hardware (most likely), its your software.

If you want to burn, get you a copy  Nero.
