I've tried both the ISO, and the web installer and both hang after displaying the Visual Studio splash screen, without reaching the menu to choose the install directory or components etc. I'm using windows 8.1 and VS2015 community, although other versions of visual studio do the same.

I've posted the log here, and although I don't understand any of the content it's not throwing up any error codes that I can see, making it quite hard to pinpoint what is going wrong.

I've spent a few days trawling through forums and trying different things, but nothing has worked so far. If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them, I fear my only option will be to do a complete reinstall of windows, which is a bit of a pain as the laptop I'm trying to get VS to install on requires a lot of setup for a reinstall.
