Why is not possible to have Xamarin and VS on a virtual machine? It is mentioned for Android development, could this also affect to windows apps development (per example, if the machine will be used for both purposes)?

The reason of this question is the note for the pre-requisites on Setup and install (Visual Studio and Xamarin):

1. Recommended: a physical Windows computer (not a VM) running Windows 8 or later, which allows use of the fast, Hyper-V based Visual Studio Emulator for Android if you don't have an Android device. (Did we mention that you need a physical computer and not a VM?)

Welcome to MSDN forum.

If you have an Android device, you could work with Android apps on a physical Windows computer or a VM. If you don’t have an Android device, you couldn’t use Microsoft Visual Studio Emulator for Android to develop Android app on a VM but you could use Google Emulator to develop Android app on a VM. There is no effect to develop windows apps on a VM.

In general, you could have Xamarin and VS on a virtual machine.
