We are about 10 developers in our company and we are developing in C++ and C#. We are using the Professional and the Ultimate version of VS 2010. Mainly our C++ projects are quite big (about 50 to 60 projects per solution). We are using "normal" business computers (Core 2 Duo E8500 @3.16GHz and 3 GB RAM with Windows XP 32 bit)

The basic performance problems occur when using build in functions of the IDE. Like hitting F12 when on a function to jump into the function it will freeze the IDE for about 10 to 15 seconds. Using the wizzard for adding a variable to a dialog element will take about 20 to 30 seconds till the wizzard window shows up. And it looks like the longer you work with the IDE the slower it gets. If you start it over again it "speeds" up a little bit.

This are just a few examples, there are many more to add where you just choose a function of the IDE and you have to wait for more than 10 seconds till something happens. And I understand there are a lot things to manage, when jumping to a function, but it works so much smoother with previous versions of Visual Studio.

I agree with you Visual Studio 2010 has bad performance issues. But unfortunately it is normal. I know this is a fact because I use Visual Studio 2010 and I've notice it compiles much slower than Visual Studio 2008. You are just going to have live with it or use the previous version of Visual Studio. Another thing that Visual Studio 2010 lacks is C++/CLI intellisense and color printing if you want to print code.
