The case: I have an excel Master file linked to 20 other excel sheets, we can call 'Input files'.  

The problem:

- The Input files need to be sourced manually from an other drive, before they can be linked to the Masterfile.

- There are multiple versions of Input files saved and the owner of the Masterfile easily miss to link the latest version the Input files.

Optimal solution:

- A central data repository, to which the owners of the Input files can easily upload data.

- The owner of the Masterfile can manually trigger a refresh of all the inputs at once.

Is it possible to use SharePoint as a centralized database to improve the data handoff between the Input providers and the owner of the Masterfile?

You can upload these files (input files and master file) into a SharePoint library. In the SharePoint library, we can create, collect, update, and manage files with members.

Then, open the master file from the SharePoint library, re-create connections with input files in the library.

1. On the Data tab, click Connections.

2. In the Workbook Connections dialog box, click Add.

3. Near the bottom of the Existing Connections dialog box, click Browse for More.

4. Find the input file from the SharePoint library, and click Open.

For the data connections, you can configure the refresh control. Also, you can manually refresh all data connections or a specific data connection.
