Hey Guys!

I have been playing about with asp.net as part of .net core. I have been creating MVC web apps. I have a solution which builds fine before update 3. However, now the build runs forever, then I have to restart visual studios to end it. I do not have this issue if I build a new project, only with old projects created before I installed update 3.

Do you have any idea how I should debug this?

Did you meet any error or warning message in output windows during this process? If not, please go to Event viewer and see if there have any related error message.

If you have any existing similar project, please build it and see if the same issue will occur or not.

Since our forum is to discuss the Visual Studio Setup and Installation, and this build issue happens after upgraded to update 3, we need to check if this update 3 lead to it. Please find another 2 computers, one is installed VS 2015 without update 3(like your previous VS version), another is installed VS 2015 with update 3(like your current VS version) and copy your project to those computers then build, see if this issue persists or not.

Meanwhile, you can try to create an empty solution and add this old project, then clear and build it. If it works that means some project file may be corrupted.
