• • Earlier i installed microsoft visual studio 2015 in drive H and it was working fine.
  • Later i mergerd the drive H with other drives to make room in C drive and Visual studio installation directory was moved into a folder in drive E.
  • Visual studio was not working at all, and add remove program can't repair or uninstall it.
    
  • Then i removed it by revo uninstaller along with registry entries and leftover files.
    
  • I also unistalled 4 to 5 other programs that are installed with visual studio, something like language pack etc
  • When i tried to reinstall it, the install location was already selected and grey out so it can't be changed, neither in custom nor typical option.
  • The selected install location was H:\visio
    
  • I searched in internet and then i changed the drive letter from E to H, so the installation started but it end up at the following error.

  "Fatal error during installation", this is a general error and most of the time, it means that your package was corrupted.
   
  Refer to: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2899270#bookmark-iso 0x80070643 means installation cache or ISO is corrupted, it is for visual studio 2013, and in visual studio 2015, this error code means the package is corrupted most of the time.

  To make sure whether the package is well, Please use FCIV.exe http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841290 to verify hash of the ISO. Any discrepancy would indicate that the file was corrupted. Here is a blog for how to use it, you can refer to it.
