I have a urgent query as I'm in middle of migration of a customer sql server DB from on-premise to Azure SQL DB managed instance. The two main production DBs are around 6 TB and 2 TB. I move from Azure SQL DB elastic pool to Managed instance as it supposed to have 8 TB size. However, in one article, it says that the max size of a single DB cannot exceed 4 TB.

I need to know immediately how this can be done in  Managed instance. If that is the absolute limit then is it possible to use premium disks to accommodate that?

Hello,

The maximum storage size per database is determined by the maximun storage size per instance which is 8 TB for General Purpose. For Business Critical Gen 4 is 1 TB. For Business Critical Gen 5 is:
