The VMAccess extension will only reset the password for the LOCAL admin account. Which means it will not work for a Domain Controller.

If you want change the password for a domain controller you need to do so from another domain joined machine where you can access the Active Directory and change it from there. So if you are using Azure Active Directory in addition to your DCs you can do it from the portal under Azure Active Directory. otherwise, I suggest logging into a secondary DC or a domain joined VM and elevate with the current domain admin credentials and then changing.
