In my tests I usually see this operation take about 90 seconds or so which you are not far off of. You can try updating the interface using PowerShell, CLI or the portal to see if it speeds it up. That being said, I still usually see the operation take about 90 seconds regardless of the method I use. Since this operation is handled by the Azure infrastructure there is not a way to speed this up. The most you can do is submit the request and wait for the fabric to send the results and state the update was successful.
