I had created folders for my list some time ago to manage the threshold restriction and to have those items included in a search query. I recently hit the threshold again and noticed that my folders are empty!  the items are still in the list but no longer in the folders.  Has this happened to anyone?

I'm using SharePoint 2010 Foundation and moving items into folders is a very tedious task.  I don't want to repeat the process only to find them out of the folders again.
