The website app uses aspnetdb as its membership provider. This performs correctly to register users and access all authenticated pages within the website except the newly created page that has web parts. (which I have reduced its complexity to just two web parts that now only contain labels)

Is there a SQL config setting or ASP.NET conf setting that must be addressed??

You are getting this error because your ASP.NET application is not able to find SQL Server.

Check database connection string and cofirm it by using "test connection" feature available in Visual studio.
