It's possibily a stupid question but is it possible for Data Factory to copy data from a source to a destination that are both behind firewalls (one the coporate firewall and the other the Azure VNet)?

I read that you need to use a Self-hosted Integration Runtime (SHIR) to allow Data Factory access a datasource behind a private network (coporate or Azure).

Everthing I read after that always seem to assume that only one side of the copy activity use a SHIR (either source or sink but not both).

That's why I'm wandering if it's possible that the source and destination of a copy activity be linked with 2 different SHIR.

You don't need to install 2 self-hosted integration runtime, A single self-hosted IR can be used for multiple on-premises data sources, which is to say just install one integration runtime on your machine, both source and sink data store could use it.
