I created an instance of Azure Analysis Services and I attempted to deploy a model whose compatibility level is set to 1400. However, this failed. The reason may be because my AAS is set to 1200 (see below).

I am able to deploy level 1400 models on my AAS instance.  When I checked my instance as you did in SSMS, it also shows 1200.  I don't see any references to this setting in the documentation, so this may not be the problem with your deployment.
