The Azure Portal shows that maximum storage for a General Purpose instance is 8 TB. Maximum storage for Business Critical is 4 TB. Since you can put up to 100 databases on a managed instance, does this 8 TB / 4 TB limit refer to the maximum size of any individual database or is this total storage across all databases?

4TB/8TB is the limit of the size of whole instance. We don't have any announcement yet. But the issue will be solved once Hyperscale is available in Managed Instance (coming soon).
