I'm trying to find a guide for creating a page on our SharePoint site that would allow users to search multiple fields. The best way to describe what I'm trying to do is this: Think of when you're shopping online and you have the chose of multiple filters (size, color, inseam, etc.); this is what I'd like to build OR know if it's possible to build.

Filters would be: role (2 options to select), time commitment (4 options to select), capability (7 topics to select) and topic (8 topics to select).

its quite possible using SharePoint search. Basically we need to create Managed property out of Crawled property. and add refiners in the search page. You will find lot of articles on this in google. PFB an article for your reference.
