Recently, we went through the process of upgrading from Sharepoint Services 3.0 to Sharepoint 2013.  We went through the process of setting up a temporary 2010 server and moved 3.0 > 2010 > 2013.  Once completed we had users test and users were able to login and everything appeared to be working.

With that in mind, we decided to go into production and dismounted the database and deleted the original DB backup.  We backed up the 3.0 database again, repeated the same steps however, when we mounted the database and created a new site on Sharepoint Services 2013 for production, no one was able to login to the site.  I could still login to Central Administration but the site itself, no one could login to.
