So i want to set up a preventative maintenance type sharepoint list.

So we have a calendar with recurring appointments such as "check filter in HVAC every monday" and that is a recurring appointment with some text fields, that reoccurs every monday.

How do i get those reccuring items to generate a workflow update in order to fire off a create new list item in another list (generate work order, basically)? I am just not sure how i would get a calendar to automatically execute workflows. The rest of it i can probably handle programming myself.

workflows execute when things are changed or created. Can the recurring item be set to update a third list which fires the workflow? On a recurring appointment, is anything happening the day it recurrs that would trigger a workflow update?
