I have an email that will be sent to the requester of a service.  The email will contain the key fields from the list.  The workflow that it is attached to is set to run on change.  I am having 2 issues with the email.

When I call for the date (completion date for example) I am getting the date and time.  I have the regional setting set to date only on the list but when the information gets transferred into the email, I am back to date and time.  How do I best get rid of the time?  In my case, the date is sufficient.

2. When I have a date that is not populated (cancelled date for example) it puts in 1/1/0001 12:00:00 AM.  I would like to show this as simply a blank.

I made a workflow variable set to the left 10 characters of the date.  I have tried using a formula to convert the date to mm/dd/yyyy (text(date,"mm/dd/yyyy"), I tried coalesce on the blank date.

I am open to any suggestions.  I am going to leave the date as is until I can get a good response, but I would like to make it clean for the user.

Change "Request Date:  [%Current Item:Request Date%]" return as field as from "As String" to "Short Date"
