Im setting up sharepoint site for my department with the intention of having controlled revision status of tool drawings...

My problem is that we have autocad DWG files which need to be controlled through revision statuses and also associated PDF files which are a more user friendly way to view drawings.

Obviously PDF files are produced from DWG files. If there a way to get Each Revision status or level to contain both a DWG file and a PDF file?

This is exactly the kind of thing that Document sets are designed for.  If you put all the documents into a document set then you can track the versioning at the document set level.  You'll still need to update the PDF when you update the DWG, but you will be able to pull up the set of documents together by accessing previous versions of the document set.  Other than custom programming I don't know of any way to update a PDF based on changing an autocad drawing.
