I''m trying to design a system that can have remote computers keep track of their own data, but then transfer that to a central database periodically. The remote systems need to be able to work independently while they have no connection to a network, and can update themselves and the central DB when they connect again. I guess I''m thinking along the lines of how Outlook works. Should the remote systems use simple XML files and update them whenever it can sync to the central DB, or would it be better to use a smaller DB like Access?

You can run it manually or schedule it.

However, design such that the files you want to transfer are not "in use"
when DeltaCopy is run.

Also, it will not work efficiently if changed files are compressed or encrypted
