The other alternative is to try something like SharpZipLib and roll your own app round it - but if this is an infrequent thing, then zip would probably be good enough.

They do a trial version, but the full job is not expensive. The only thing to look for is that the later version can produce .zipx files by default - which are not readable unless you have winzip. If you need backward compatibility, then look out for that.
