Yes and no; but how can anyone answer with certainty? The speed of a program depends on many variables.

Most developers experience both speed imprevements and productivity improvements when they use 3rd. party components.

Personally I''ve worked with components from several of the most popular component developers. Of the two you mention I would say that Telerik favours their own time to market, while DevExpress often ships later, sometimes very much later, but usually with much better quality.

At the end of the day, those components DO more, and so probably use a bit more of your CPU. The real questions are:

1 - will you ever notice ?
2 - how does that balance against the increased productivity that comes from using tools like that
3 - what is the end result for the end user.

Odds are the end result is more functionality as you use things in the control you''d not have had time to write, and a shorter development time, for the same reasons, you didn''t need to write those controls at all. Odds are low that those products would be successful if they slowed down your project and made it unusable.
