I am in the process of creating cross-platform POS and storage project(Windows and Linux) with emphasis on Linux.
I must pick a suitable RDBMS and as SQL Server kind of guy I''m having hard time to make a proper decision.
My experience with MySQL is entirely based on web projects and my experience with PostgreSQL is even scarcer.
Is there something better?

Any advice is helpful.
