I have a question: which type of db should I choose and why?

When I add/create a database to my VB.net 2010 project I am offered a couple choices; sql ce and SQL server. I''m never sure which one I should be choosing, I''ve tried both of them but they seem to differ in the way they can be built. For example the screens look a bit different when editing the db tables and the way to
modify key fields and relationship fields is different.

I find it very confusing, but I don''t know which one is best for me. I''m thinking SQL-CE is for desktop, and SQL-server is for the net right or wrong?

So which Horse for what course??

The Compact Edition still works but with less width of control.

It ultimately depends on your needs and preferences, but SQL Server is a standard box of tricks that people are familiar with, so legacy wise it is better.
